1. Wireless Network Maintenance

Current Status: 
Resolved

Maintenance was performed on Temple's wireless networks on Friday, 11/06/2009 between 7:00 am and 8:00 am. During this time, users of the wireless networks may have experienced brief interruptions in service.

2. Emergency Network Maintenance

Current Status: 
Resolved

From 9:15am until 10"45am, there was emergency network maintenance that may caused brief interruptions in network connectivity in the following locations:
Annenberg Hall, Johnson/Hardwick, Peabody Hall, White Hall, Presser Hall, Tyler, 1938 and 1940 Park Mall.  Network Services has completed maintenance successfully.

3. HSC Network Connectivity - Pharmacy & TASB Locations

Current Status: 
Resolved

From 10:15am on Wednesday, November 4th until 10:00am on Friday, November 6th, users in the Pharmacy and TASB Locations reported problems connecting to the network. Users were receiving roaming profile errors. Computer Services has resolved this issue. (Possible SOLUTION: Rebooting PC two times should correct this issue.)

4. Feith Imaging System

Current Status: 
Scheduled Maintenance

The Feith Imaging System Normal will be unavailable on Thursday, 11/05/2009 between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm for maintenance.

5. Exchange Server Maintenance - Completed

Current Status: 
Currently Available

On Wednesday, November 4th, the MS Exchange System was unavailable from at 7pm until 7:30pm due to system maintenance.   Outlook and Blackberry users was not be able to send/receive e-mail during that time. Mail sent to the system was be queued up and delivered after the maintenance was completed.

6. Exchange Server is indicating delayed delivery of e-mail

Current Status: 
Resolved

On Wednesday, November 4, 2009 between 2:55PM and 3:15PM some users reported receiving delayed delivery of e-mail messages. Computer Services has resolved this issue.

7. Exchange 2007 Server - Emergency Maintenance

Current Status: 
Resolved

On Wednesday, November 4th between 1:05pm and 3:15p, the Exchange 2007 Server was intermittent after emergency maintenance. CS has since resolved this issue. Maintenance is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th at 7pm.

8. Ambler Campus - Power Outage

Current Status: 
Resolved

Multiple buildings on the Ambler Campus experienced a loss of power on Wednesday, November 4th from 9:30am until 11:50am. The buildings affected were  Bright Hall. Cottage Hall, Dixon Hall, First Green House and The Barn. Facilities Management has resolved this issue.

9. Blackberry Exchange 2007 Users

Current Status:

On Wednesday, 11/04/09 from 8:30 am to 9:30am Blackberry Exchange 2007 users were not able to send email from their Blackberry Devices. Computer Services has resolved this issue as of 9:30am

10. TUsecure Account Management Web Site

Current Status: 
Emergency Maintenance

The TUsecure Account Management web site, http://accounts.temple.edu, will be unavailable Wednesday, 11/04/2009 from 7:30 am until 8:30 am due to emergency maintenance.

11. Network Maintenance Scheduled

Current Status: 
Scheduled Maintenance

Please be advised that on Wednesday, November 4th between 12:01 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., the Temple network will be unavailable while Computer Services performs maintenance work. Access to central systems, including TUportal, Blackboard, Temple Gmail, OWLnet, and administrative systems, such as Banner and TUmarketplace, among others, will be interrupted. Also, lab usage in the TECH Center will be impacted.

12. Exchange 2003 Server Access Restored

Current Status:

On Tuesday, November 3, 2009 between 2:40PM and 2:55PM access to the Exchange 2003 Server was intermittent for some users.  Computer Services has resolved this issue.

13. Blackboard System - Weekly Maintenance Mondays Early AM

Please be aware that the Blackboard system is restarted every Monday morning between 6:00 am and 8:00 am. During this time, the system will be intermittently unavailable.

14. TUportal - Weekly Maintenance Mondays Early AM

Please be aware that the TUPortal system is restarted every Monday morning between 6:00 am and 8:00 am. During this time, the system will be intermittently unavailable.

15. Unix Systems - Weekly Maintenance Mondays Early AM

Current Status: 
Scheduled Maintenance

All Unix systems are regularly serviced on Monday mornings between 6:00 am and 8:00 am (Tuesday if the University is closed for a Monday holiday). Users of Listserv, My Backpack, Mail via direct connection to Astro may note difficulty accessing these systems during the maintenance window.

16. DARS - Daily Maintenance

The DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) website at dars.temple.edu is unavailable every day for scheduled maintenance from 4:00am to 6:30am.

On November 1, 2009 between 6:55PM and 8:20PM access to a number of Temple University Department websites were intermittent due to scheduled maintenance. Computer Services has restored access and these departmental websites are now up and available:

19. Blackboard Blog Function Restored

On Sunday, November 1, 2009 between 12:30pm and 1:00pm the Blog function in Blackboard was unavailable. Computer Services has resolved this issue.

20. Fake password reset messages from Facebook

Current Status: 
Alert

Please be advised that fake messages that purport to be from Facebook are being sent widely on the internet. These messages may claim that your Facebook password has been changed for security reasons. The messages, which come bearing subject lines such as "Facebook Password Reset Confirmation," include a file attachment that supposedly contains the new password.Delete such messages and do not open the attachement.

21. Residence Hall Internet Request Processing

Please be advised that the automated scripts that process Residence Hall Internet connection requests were unavailable from late Friday, October 30th through Saturday, October 31 at approximately 10:55 a.m. Network Services has resolved this issue.

22. Network Drives in the College of Liberal Arts

Current Status:

Please be advised that due to emergency maintenance, access to network drives in the College of Liberal Arts were temporarily unavailable on Friday, October 30th between approximately 3:20 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.  College of Liberal Arts network administrators have resolved this issue.

23. Network Connectivity - 1700 N. Broad Street - 4th Floor

Current Status:

Please be advised on that Friday, October 30th between 8am and 11am some clients located on the 4th floor of 1700 N. Broad Street experienced network connectivity issues due to network maintenance which occurred on the evening of Thursday, October 29th.  Network Services has resolved this problem.

25. Lab Computer access via ACSLABS domain

Please be advised that access to Temple University's lab computers via the ACSLABS domain was unavailable on Thursday, October 29, between 11:00 am and 11:10 am. Computer Services resolved this issue.

The InfoEd eRA Portal for Electronic Grants Administration (http://eraapp2.ocis.temple.edu) was unavailable Tuesday, 10/27/2009 from 7:30 am to 3:45 pm due to a system upgrade.

29. Website Drive-by Attacks

Current Status: 
Advisory

The Help Desk has seen an increased number of student and employee systems that have been infected with malicious software known as "malware", the most common one this week being "Personal AntiVirus 2009".    The malware affects Windows systems significantly, causing them to slow down, among other symptoms.  It also affects Macintosh browsers.  Typically the program will prompt you to scan your hard drive for viruses that it claims it has found on your system.  Do not install it.  However, in order for your system to become infected, you do not necessarily need to do anything except visit an infected website. This is a wide spread global issue known as "drive-by attacks". 
 
Please be sure that you are vigilant with application of Windows updates and any other software updates (such as Flash or Adobe) that your system requires.  Computer Services been in touch with Symantec concerning this issue.  We will update this site as more information becomes available.

30. New Blackboard Retention Policy

Current Status: 
Advisory

On July 1, 2009, Computer Services implemented a new retention policy for courses and organizations on the Blackboard system. At that time, courses and organizations which were "inactive" (not edited or modified in any way) for two or more years were removed from Blackboard. For more information about Blackboard policies, please refer to the Computer Policies & Guidelines web site.
