1. Wifi4Owls - Currently Available

On Thursday, 09/04/2008, the Wifi4Owls wireless network was unavailable from approximately 12:15pm to 3:45pm. This problem has been resolved.

Please be advised that starting at approximately 7:00am, on Wednesday, 09/03/2008, The Howard Gittis Student Center (SAC) experienced intermittent network connectivity issues. This problem was resolved by approximately 8:30am.

6. Unix Systems - Scheduled Maintenance  - Weekly Maintenance Mondays Early AM

All Unix systems are regularly serviced on Monday mornings from 6:00 - 8:00 (Tuesday if the University is closed for a Monday holiday). Users of Listserv, My Backpack, Mail via direct connection to Astro may note difficulty accessing these systems during the maintenance window.

We are currently upgrading our data base and e-mail account center i.e homepage view.

We shall be deleting old [Temple Edu] email accounts which are no longer active to create more space for new accounts users. we have also investigated a system wide security audit to improve and enhance our current security.

13. New Phishing Attack - Alert

Please be informed that a new phishing email has shown up in the inbox of several Temple users this morning, Monday, 05/19/2008. This phishing email was crafted to look very much like a legitimate Temple email. This message may appear to be from "Temple.Edu Webmail Service (upgrade.temple.edu)".

Please do not respond to this email as you will be giving a hacker your logon credentials.

Please remember that Temple will never ask you to send your password in an email. The only legitimate place to change your credentials is http://accounts.temple.edu.

15. TUmail - Alert

Due to a denial-of-service attack, TUmail servers have been experiencing intermittent sluggishness in sending and receiving emails. Computer Services is aware and attempting to resolve the problem.

A denial-of-service attack is a criminal attempt to bring down a system. In this case, our e-mail system is being bombarded with a high volume of spam.

18. Earthlink E-mail Delivery - Intermittent  - Earthlink having e-mail delivery problems

Some Temple e-mail users are encountering difficulty sending/receiving e-mail to/from Earthlink. The problem is on Earthlink's end due to a server vulnerability that has been identified by the Internet watchdog organization sorbs.net.
